November News
November 20, 2006
We have a winner for the cover contest for All Encompassing Trip by Nicole Del Sesto! It’s from Michael Shirley, an artist from Melbourne, Australia. Thanks to all who entered! It was a great chance for us to meet new artists, and we’ll be keeping their names on file for possible use in the future. It was fun to see the various interpretations of All Encompassing Trip. Watch for the winning cover soon!
Afterbirth authors have been out there meeting, greeting, reading, and signing! Bradley Sands, author of It Came from Below the Belt, did a reading in Boston on Saturday, November 11 at midnight! It was held at the Coolidge Theatre before the horror flick Neighborhood Watch.
Afterbirth author Kevin Dole 2 (Tangerinephant) along with D. Harlan Wilson & Paul Toth participated in an event at the Barnes & Noble in Ann Arbor, Michigan on November 17. It was a great event, and the Barnes & Noble will be carrying their books on consignment if you happen to be in the Ann Arbor area.
On a different topic, Afterbirth Books is not going to accept unsolicited manuscripts for a while. We’ve become really overwhelmed with the sheer volume of submissions we receive every month! I don’t want to take material that I can’t get to reading for weeks and weeks. We’ll let you know when we can have you send your stuff over again.
In case you were wondering, we are not yet underwater at the Afterbirth office—although much of the outlying Seattle area can’t say the same. We had something like 9 inches of rain in as many days…and then it didn’t stop raining! We are on high ground here, but might need to get out a row boat to go to the grocery store soon! (Just kidding…) Anyway, our best wishes for a bizarro end-of-November holiday (if you celebrate one). Whatever you do, remember to stock up on a few bizarro books to keep you company in the dark of night.
